Where Global Learning and Academic Excellence Have a Home.
The Kolter School is a
premier Houston ISD (HISD) elementary school dedicated to nurturing the unique academic and personal potential of each student by partnering with teachers, parents, and the community. Together, we will accomplish this by exploring the sights, sounds and people of the world, while sparking a love of learning that will last a lifetime.
The Kolter School is the only elementary foreign languages and cultures magnet school in Texas , which features a comprehensive language program for kindergarten through fifth grade in Chinese, Japanese, French, and Spanish. In addition students are prepared for success with an outstanding core curriculum ( HISD CLEAR Curriculum and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), and with educational experiences that extend beyond language instruction. Our magnet program is designed to deepen curricular integration, cultural discovery, and self and global awareness. We believe strongly in giving our children opportunities to understand people and cultures of the world for lifelong success in our evolving global economy.
The Kolter School is very proud of its accomplishments. We are a three time recipient of the prestigious TBEC Texas Honor Roll School , and we have been named a TEA Exemplary School 9 out of the last 10 years . Kolter students and staff work diligently to maintain numerous and consecutive Gold Performance Awards by HISD and TEA. Texas Monthly also recognizes Kolter as a Best Public School. The US government has consistently awarded Kolter substantial major grants, which further enrich our foreign language program.
