A Message from our Principal
Welcome to Kolter Elementary! As principal of this truly unique, neighborhood school, I am inspired by the exceptional synergy that exists between our students, faculty, and community. We endeavor to create an environment where all children are cherished and develop memories of meaningful experiences in a deeply enriching and rigorous academic setting.
An integral part of our rich academic reputation has been built on a fully integrated language and cultures magnet program. Studying Chinese, French, Japanese, or Spanish, all Kolter students experience language acquisition, cultural knowledge and awareness in a foreign language of their choosing (see magnet program). Curricular integration, cultural discovery, self and global awareness are taken to a higher level in many outdoor learning environments at Kolter, including our native ecosystem pond, our ABC and Cultural gardens, and our central Courtyard.
Because Kolter provides such unique academic and multicultural programs for our children, we depend greatly on the support and involvement of all parents and our generous PTO. As we provide the children with what is needed at school, we believe that education occurs in each home and in the community. With parents as our partners, our children can become what they dream.
We do not accept anything but the best in our children and our teaching staff. As we share your most precious gifts, your children, please know we always want what is in the best interest our children.
Kolter's proven track record in successfully preparing our children for a global future, both academically and socially, is underscored by our student achievement data and the prestigious awards that have been bestowed upon our school.
- TEA Exemplary School 8 out of the last 9 years
- TEA Gold Performance Award
- Texas Monthly Five Star School
- Texas Honor Roll School (TBEC)
- Recipient of substantial US Government Grants for Foreign Language Program
Though we are proud of our past successes, we do not rest on them. We continually raise expectations for ourselves as a learning community. A responsibility we embrace is that our students depend on us to properly prepare them for a highly competitive, global environment. It is our duty to ensure that all Kolter children are successfully prepared and able to compete in top tier middle schools and beyond.
Sincerely,
Peggi Stewart
